Our ranch based
vacations are suitable for beginner to seasoned adventurers
who want to experience the pristine wilderness of the Chilcotin
while staying in our cozy log cabins surrounding the Lodge
along Beece Creek. Enjoy the opportunity to "mix and match"
activities from our available list. You are not limited to
simply one activity! Your stay can be as adventure packed
or as relaxing as you wish; we tailor your activity lengths
and schedule to accommodate your desires.
Horseback
Riding: Ranch based horseback riding packages are suitable
for beginners to experienced riders who want to see the beautiful
Chilcotin wilderness and yet stay in the comfort of one of
our cabins. We have many trails to explore based right from
the lodge ranging from 2 to 8 hour trips. We have horses suitable
for every riding level and we are sure to find one to suit
your abilities. Our trail rides are designed to be a fun adventure
for every guest.
For those
new to horseback riding, we will teach you how. This can be
a great learning experience about ranch life in general. When
you are not riding, enhance your horse skills and take part
in one of our horse clinics, learn how to care for a horse
including horse-shoeing and round up; practice some roping,
learn how to fence, clear trails, tie knots etc.
Hiking:
During
ranch based stays, hikes take place on one of our many trails
based out of our Lodge. The trails vary from lakeside walks
to mountain trails where you can enjoy the splendor of the
South Chilcotin. They are suitable for beginner to seasoned
hikers. Hikers have the opportunity to return to the ranch
after a short hike, pack a lunch for a day hike, or camp out
overnight.
Canoeing/Fishing:
Explore with us the fabulous lakes of our territory including
the Taseko Lakes, Big Onion Lake, Fish Lake, Wolf Track Lake
and a few secret ones! Guests have the opportunity to explore
the surrounding shores and trails while canoeing. Wildlife
viewing, photography and fishing are additional activities
to enjoy during your trips.
Fish the
surrounding streams and lakes of the area which are excellent
for fly fishing. There is an abundance of Dolly Varden, Rainbow
Trout and Bull Trout. Enjoy the opportunity to fly-cast from
a canoe or from shore.
Wildlife
Viewing: There is plenty of opportunity to see a wide
variety of wildlife during your stay with us such as Moose,
Mountain Goat, Bighorn Sheep, Beaver, Bear, Deer, and Mountain
Lion. Be sure to have your camera ready!
Join us
at the end of July and early August to enjoy the phenomena
of the spawning Chinook and Sockeye salmon in Beece Creek
and the Taseko River. Grizzlies can also be viewed (from a
safe perch!) during this season as they fish for salmon.
The chance
to see and photograph local birds is excellent. Our bird species
include Bald and Golden Eagles, Osprey, Blue Herron, Trumpeter
Swans and Hummingbirds, just to name a few.
Enjoy
the summer blossoms and foliage of lupines, pink and red Indian
paintbrush, columbine, wild orchids and many more.
Additional
Activities: When you are not exploring the pristine wilderness
of the Chilcotin, there are many additional activity options
for you to partake in. Team sports, horseshoes, swimming and
roping are just a few examples.
There
is a playground near the lodge to keep the kids amused with
horseshoes, volleyball, badminton, swingset, slide and sandbox.
Enjoy the peaceful location from the deck of your cabin reading,
sketching, snoozing....Spend your evenings by the campfire
listening to music or telling tales of your past days' adventures.
